as i read about when others have done them the cold air will enter via the front grille and then exit from the scoop facing towards the window

Ah, I see, effectively giving you a heated front screen for the winter as well, brilliant!!

If anyone has done this be interested to hear if it made a difference / pics.

      Thanks again Richard.

I did it on my old 2.4 many moons ago. Very easy to cut the hole (I used a nibbler - best tool ever) and I just mounted an intercooler vent from a trooper on it.

Whether it worked, I don't know but it never overheated again and I could feel hot air coming out of it when the engine was running, so it did something.

There used to be pictures on the forum but they've died. Will see if I have any when I get home.

A cheaper alternative is to stick a few washers as spacers on the bonnet hinges to lift the back edge of the bonnet up half an inch.

Exactly what I had in mind Vince, thanks for pics. Quite like the idea of raising the bonnet a tad till I get round to doing scoop, cheers mate. How much of a difference you reckon that makes Vince?

I'm gonna install auxillary temp gauge as well from top hose (think I'm getting paranoid about overheating) and block off EGR and hopefully that will do it.

            Thanks again fellas,

Makes one hell of a difference, especially in wet weather, there seems to be less misting at the base of the screen, (i.e not getting cold so no condensation forming on the inside where it's warmer) and water droplets don't seen to lay there either, so the hot air is being forced out the vent.
