The bolts are actually studs and they also hold the pulley onto the water pump so if they weren't there things could get interesting.

As i say... the only time i have overheated is immediately after the prang (bit more than a prang as it destroyed my wrap around bullbars)..
Only then when i parked up at home as the coolant p1ssed out from the overflow pipe on the coolant bottle.. reckon the jolt knackered the rad cap or something as replacing the usual (cap, therm, coolant + flush) has sorted it.

Could it be I have a Supersurf??? or could the mix of standard Halfords Pink coolant mixed half and half with H2O be keeping it at bay (for now)??

The 4 bolts are present but do I have a coupling?? this seems to be the most expensive thing? as I can see I have all the belts and a domed nub (no fins) in the centre with 4 bolts, 3 of the nuts are done up tight to the nub and one halfway which leads me to believe i have no nub and the coupling was removed OR the fans shattered in the prang and now I have just a coupling??
I see no fins on where the bolts protrude but I do in pics of the Viscous coupling

My Baby has been running fine since (except recently i lack pull but i'll post seperate about that)

Oh Sh1t... sods law here I am talking about my supersurf and I go out to take some pics for you lot and theres a pool of water under the Engine bay
It's not coming from the expansion bottle or the rad cap it's more under the surfs block.. i can't really see much coz of the aircon fans and bash plate but it'd def not visible from above but a constant drip from the underside, my coolant has gone down for the first time since I did the above but that was the beginning of Jan?
How do I find out where this is coming from? ( without the obvios of stripping it?)

Is it definitely coolant? Is the level in your radiator actually going down? Have a look at all the hoses for a possible leak, - particularly on the connections.

If you don't see anything obvious, a garage can pressure test it and it will squirt out of wherever it's leaking.

I suggest you don't take it back to whatever genius 'fixed' it last time and forgot to put the fan back on. I presume you got a new radiator after your little ding?

            hey mate
I am not far from u...So let me know if u get really stuck
check the metal radiator pipe as it sits near a pully and I just had mine grind a hole in the pipe lol a week ago and it is only a small job to replace the pipe
One day at the time I guess..

I have found where it's leaking from. Seems to be the metal pipe in the pics (not the rubber one that connects to it) it p1sses water out of the bottom when i squeeze the rad top hose. What part is this for me to order?
I'm a plumber and pretty good with fixing things but I just don't know what i'm looking at in an engine bay. is it a hard job to replace? ie any gaskets where it connects at the manifold end or do I have to depressurise anything?
Is it possible i could solder it and it will hold until I can replace?
Sorry about all the questions and you guys are fab... well worth the subscription.

This is the turbo coolant inlet pipe.

Yes there is a gasket where the pipe flange fits to the turbo.

As stated in the pic in my previous post you have a lot of corrosion around hose fittings so I suggest you inspect all fittings and remove hoses from any with corrosion, clean and/or replace badly corroded bits, flush cooling system and refill with proper coolant mix. If you don't then you are risking the engine.

Does anyone know where to get this pipe and what part number? i looked on milners and roughtrax but they only have the rubber pipes.
Will solder hold until I can replace?
I will get round to servicing all the pipes eventually when costs allow.

Give toyota a ring or go in and have a chat with them.Take the pic in aswell and they should be able to order the parts for you.
When i put another turbo in my 3l i got all the gaskets from them and one of the pipes also

16028-54020 Pipe and 16347-42020 Gasket. The pipe assembley is the two with the flange. Fixing the old depends on how corroded it is.

Thank you Nev, I have ordered the parts from my local Toyota dealer and should be here Tuesday.. not bad pricing either £1.60 Gasket & £25.45 for the Pipe.
now all I have to do is figure how to get the bugger out.

This is what I have so far but I still can't budge it

                              Donkey's other thread

                              Turbo Coolant inlet pipe?
As stated in my prev thread (Wot No Viscous Fan) I have uncovered a leak in pics.
I cannot get the damn thing out no matter how hard i try. all bolts are undone and is off the manifold but without removing everything I can't seem to move it forward or back.
Anyone know the best way of removing?
Anyone got the part i need to replace?
Will solder temp fix this until I can change it?

Remove the air cleaner hoses and tube and look for a bolt through a bracket welded to the pipes. It bolts the tube assembley to the head I think.
