  • Brake pads need changing...

    ...which is easy enough, however I saw a Brake Pad Pin Fitting Kit on Roughtrax and was wondering if I need to buy that as well, or is just something they're trying to make an extra tenner with? I've always (on previous cars) kept and re-used the original gubbins; is the Surf not the same?

    Buy the kit. I destroyed mine when removing the pads.

    When you re-fit everything, use copperslip on the pins to stop them siezing.

      It all depends on the condition of the old ones. Same with the seals and pistons. If they need replacing, do them.

        I replaced my recently and just used new pads... everything went back in the same as it came out... very easy job to do.. (compared to my last car anyway!)
