all the bolts are in and it wasnt hanging on the bell housing as i used a train track and running jack sytem and jacked the box up level and slid it forward, but i offered my bro and 3 of his friends a meal to help fit it and now they think they may have used the bolts to pull the box to the engine rather than locate it properlySurfin on the tidal waves of mud!

Did you bolt the converter to the flex plate first, then fit the gearbox? this is a bad way to do it as you'll have real trouble getting the pump lugs lined up, if its not fully home, it could cause the flex plate to bend and foul the starter. And it'll also screw up the pump if your not careful.
Fit the convertor solidly in to the gearbox, then fit the whole lot up to the truck. the converter shouldn't be pressing on the flex plate once its fitted. You should be able to turn the engine without the converter moving, while you line the bolt holes up.
I'd never use the bolts to pull the gearbox to the motor, it should slide right on easily or you have a problem.4x4toys.co.uk - Keeping you on and off the road...

With the transmission back off the engine and u turn it over by hand the flex plate doesnt appear to be bent but it is very close to the starter motor, but with out the transmission to hold the starter motor in the correct position its hard to tell if its catching like this.Surfin on the tidal waves of mud!
