turbo/rpm strangeness

So I'm pretty sure that I've got a bit of a problem slowly sneaking up on me, and I was hoping that these symptoms would ring a bell for somebody here who'd be able to advise...

Lately I've been noticing that when I push the truck a little bit (eg. accelerating up a hill) that when the green turbo light comes on the rpm will jump from ~2200 to say 2900, along with the increased turbo whine and engine noise, but I don't notice any increase in power, and my speed doesn't really increase (or will even drop a little).

Everything seems to be running fine otherwise--no smoke, weird noise, etc. but it doesn't seem normal to have the rpm jump without an increase in power/speed...

Am I just paranoid here, or does this sound like something to you guys?

Clutch slipping. Replace with a solid flywheel and clutch kit to suit if you still have the dual mass flywheel.

Thanks, I suspected that this may be the case--is it a big job to fix? I haven't had the truck for very long, and am still trying to get things figured out on 'er
