i got a 2.4 coming in tomoz for breaking if your needing the sensor
the overdrive button is on the side of the gear selector and if its off there will be a light lit on the dash
the ect button is the black button infront of the gear selector but cant remember if the switch illuminates or a light on the dash
Ah right,I know the button you are talking about on the side of the gear selector.I wondered what that was.For normal road driving, should this be on or off?

Sounds ok,any way to tell its ok and works before I buy it.No point in buying it if its a duff one allready.
the guy i'm getting the truck from as far as he knows the head has gone as he had a leak on the top hose but he was using the truck every day and travelling up and down the country for work so i guess it is working ok.
if it is the same as the 3.0l one then i can try it out on my truck before hand if you want me to
Most mechanics don't know much about surfs ( in my experience) and when they put the new head back on, they get the vacuum pipes to the turbo all wrong.
the guy who did my head is a fair/good mech and got it wrong first time.
I bet the previous owner got it back after the head was done and was told that that was the best it would do, so got p1ssed off and sold it.
Do as Bushwhacker said, and check the auto trans fluid, and get yourself a haynes manual.
Don't look at the complicated, expensive stuff yet, coz it's bound to be a simple fix that the last mechanic forget to connect, like the vac hoses on the turbo. Do a search for vaccuum hoses,
just to let you know i have got the turbo sensor out.I drove the truck home yesterday and the turbo and everything was all working ok so if you still need the sensor let me know
