  • Fuel pump leak

The Missus Surf has a diesel leak on the fuel pump.

It's not from the top, sides or anything easy to get to, it appears to be leaking from the valve on the bottom of the pump under the backplate where the injector pipes come out.

Can this valve be replaced without having the pump reconditioned? It is difficult to get to, but with some long extensions I should be able to reach it.

I havent got a clue what this valve is called, all I know is that the cable runs to the side of the pump where it terminates into a grey, round connector.

Is this the spill control valve or is that the large valve with the screw you are not supposed to turn?

The motors not been run on veg, only Diesel, but it has overheated at some time so I think the seal has just gone.

why couldn't this have happened in summer when it is nice and warm

Hi mate, mines the same, it's a pump out job I'm afraid. The part is called the distributor block.
You could try putting 1 or 2 litres of ATF ( yes auto transmission fluid) into the fuel tank wen you fill with diesel, this may swell the seal enough to slow down/stop the leak for a while, it did work for me for a while, but I keep using veg oil, so it keeps leaking.

On the last link, download the 3rd from the bottom, watch out, it's a biggy, but will tell you more than you'll ever need to know about your engine.
