  • fitting a 2L

    hi

i was woundering if it is possible to fit a 2L in to a surf? i now it wound be as powerful but i have a good 2L engine here, but it has a manual pump and i have an auto with the efi wasnt sure if it would be a problem with the auto.
just need to get the truck running why i rebuild my old engine.
    Meny thanks

you'll need to leave the ECU connected coz it controls the gearbox aswell as the engine, but aslong as the transmission end of it all matches up ok i would think it will just make the ECU throw a wobbly and flash the check light up but aslong as the 2l doesn't rely on an ECU to control it at all i would say it should run ok, so long as the ECU doesn't throw a hissy fit and stop telling the gearbox what to do.

Something to check. I think the auto also relies on the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) for a signal.

think it gets info from the crank sensor also which the older engine didnt have.
