  • 2.4td 93 oil leak...

Hey guys! I seem to have a small oil leak, coming from what looks like the gearbox, under the car near the back of the engine. its black, what makes me think its not the transmission oil...

Is this a common problem or am i about to shell out lots of money??

    Any advice would be appreciated!!

    Thanks guys,

    Joe.

The rocker cover gasket tends to leak at the back and the oil drips down onto the transmission. It's a cheap fix, the hardest part is re-installing the rubber connectors on the silver EFI tube. You will cuss a lot.

Buggar me- i was sweating! thought i was gonna have to shell out for a new engine or something...

Thanks for the advice. i'll have to do it tomorrow night, as i'll be tattooing in the day at work - dont think they'll like it if im covered in oil and smelling of car stuff!

      Cheers again,
      Joe.

Right... ive just bought a rocker cover gasket in the attempt of sorting the oil leak. got it from my toyota garage for £15.77, but at least its a genuine part lol

If i get a rear crank seal (if you may think its that) how do i get to it? is it a case of taking the sump off, and basically fitting it thatway? or is it alot harder thanthat?

If anyone can write down how to do it etc, maybe with a few diagrams or pics, that would be a great help.

I've got a garage with lifts etc i can do it with, just need to know the basics!

        Cheers.

          Simple. Just remove Gear Box.

Do just post a question in one forum in future.

You could have told me that vince before i done mine. The local kids now have a ...lets say........... stronger vocabulary. Possibly some of the parents too.
