  • does my vehicle have ABS?

    Hi all

I have recently purchased an imported 2.4 Turbo Hilux Surf 4 Runner, it was imported in 2000 and was built in 1992, I am trying to find out if it has ABS, does anybody know if this model/year does?

    Kind regards

    James

Nope, don't think ABS was ever an option on the 2nd gens.

It does seem to be quite popular when selling to advertise that they do have it though, especially on eBay.

Some of the russian sites state they have ABS so I guess that's where the incorrect info originates. No ABS on the LN130 or KZN130.

Thanks for that every one, Slugsie thats what I did as I was told when I purchased it that it had ABS, then couldnt get insurance for it!!! I think the guy who bid on it wont want it now/wont pay so will advertise again but with out the ABS, I just wish I knew more about Hilux Surfs and insurance before buying it!! I'v learnt my lesson for next time!!!

          Regards

Getting insurance shouldn't be much of a problem. Some insurers won't touch an import, but most do with little problems. Several threads around here talk about who's used which insurer, and what sort of price they've quoted. If that has been your only problem with the Surf, then please don't give up just yet.

                Cheers Slugsie

Its a long story but my other car was written off and I couldnt carry my hilux over to that policy and couldnt cancel due to paying monthly and had made a claim, I got a great quote from a specialist of £550.00 per year fully comp, but the excess was £900 so I would have ended up paying 2 premiums plus if i'd had to make a claim would have to pay £900 so keeping it isnt really viable which im p****d off about due to where i live (the weather) and my wifes horses!!

                regards
