  • Air con belt change

My truck is squeeking like its powered by a small group of budgies!!

turns out the air con belt is a slack.

Ive got the belt, Any tips on how to change the belts over? an any idea what tools i need for the job?

A pair of these (ask GWH)...

...and a few sockets, it'll all be out in no time. Won't work after the bash plate has been bashed a few times and it's full up with mud anyway.

I can only speak from working on my 3L but assuming the setup is the same you need to do the following.

Slacken centre nut on the top idler pulley, this acts as a lock nut for the adjuster. Slacken off the adjuster bolt so the pulley drops down to its lowest setting. This will allow the old belt can be removed and the new one to be slipped into place ensure it follows the same route as the original.

Tighten up the adjuster bolt until you have approx 10-12mm deflection in the longest run betwween pulleys. Don't forget to tighten up the idler pulley nut to lock everything in place.

If i remember correctly nut size is 14mm

I stand to be corrected on any of the above but it worked for me
