Took the Smurf to my mates garage for it's first service. Didn't take long for the swearing to start! The oil filter ( beer barrel ) refused to budge, even with the air filter assembly removed to give good access. Had to draft in a bigger chain type wrench, but we got there in the end. Fuel filter? no problem. I didn't realise the fuel was heated on the filter - perhaps i will look again at the veg oil option! Squeeling aircon belt adjusted, so the system is now up and working well. Air filter ( same as a Land-Cruiser's ) is arriving 2morrow.
M8 used FRAM filters all round...are these O.K. When I had a Corolla many years ago, I was told to my genuine Toy oil filters only as they have a valve in them to keep up the oil pressure?
Mechanic mate says coolant looks like new and says "best leave it and the thermostat alone "...mmmmmmm.
Little sticker on the cam belt cover ( in jap ) indicates belt changed @ 104K(km), and I am now on 112K(km). Think i will get is visually checked as you can never be sure!!!!!!
