  • Diesel pump leak

    Afternoon folks

Have searched on this and hopefully not in same situation as plumb bob, got deisel peeing out of pump. taken loads of bits off to gain a decent view and nearest I can see is a drip coming off the fuel line bracket next to the oval plate which I see can be a cause of leaks from other posts. The volume of fuel would indicate a large leak i cannot see/feel this coming from the top cap or this oval plate which is what I hoped

So question; what is the part on the back of the pump held by a 6mm soc cap screw? this at 90 degrees to this bracket and at the moment the only place I can see as a possible place.

Next question; can it come from here whate ever it is as I see from other posts that the most common is from either side or top plate.

Failing that get a seal kit and keep fingers crossed.

    Cheers Steve

good this answer ones own post, took off more bits and have traced leak to the seal between the manifold block (block with 4 pipes in) and the pump housing.

Seen other post where one says he did another says it specialist cause thats where the timing is.

So can it be done in the car or not please.

    Cheers Steve

Yes the pump has to be calibrated afterwards with the distributer block seal. I would try putting some A/T fluid in your fuel.

Thanks for reply, AT fluid not heard of that, going to plod on with it now as have stripped all bits from back end of pump, very similar to working on the starter as I recall cuts/chaffs to prove. Had a quick butchers in the manual re removing the pump, i assume that the pump cannot be removed simpy by undoing the two mounting bolts and withdrawing it. Sometimes the old haynes go over board, just replaced cam chain tensioner on my CBR600 the manual said to remove halve the head! I asked my local Honda dealer an he said no just get tdc and whip it out.

Least it didn't rain as the weather man said.

If you search on here for fuel pump there is a very good link for the removal of the pump you have to take of the timing belts etc.
