Fairly poz it's not wheel balance or shape

Check the visous fan, may have a broken blade on it causing the vibration - it should only cut in at normal operating temp. Just check whether it is an engine RPM thing or road speed.

    Cheers

Can also be a propshaft/universal joint problem - one of my UJ's was buggered and it started off as a vibration at certain speeds then changed to be a constant vibration when under load (i.e. when you took your foot off the accelerator it stopped).

Not too expensive to get replaced but you gotta make sure you regularly grease the grease-points on the propshaft especially if you go off road and in wet conditions etc.

This propshaft / UJ, is it a home fix job or does someone have to do special things to it ?

I suspect that my clanking when cold... and now a bit when warm...... and vibration under load at any speed over 40 may be something similar.

complete piece of cake. circlip pliers and a hammer. I can do them in my sleep, the result of years of dunking them in muddy water!

If its really bad, the prop will jerk as it rotates slowly, otherwise you'll have to undo one end of the prop and see if they feel stiff by hand.

Would it show itself like this.......if I stop hard and sit on the brake pedal, then let the autobox crawl forwards there is a bit of a clunck / thump, almost as if there is slack betweek the diff & the gearbox ? Or is my diff stuffed as well ?

hehe, could easily be, but don't forget, power goes though the gearbox, then the transfer case, then the UJ's, then the diff......So you will always get some slack in the drivetrian with a truck with any miles on it.
