Please can anyone help? My 92 2.4Td auto is giving me trouble. Not long after I had it I was drove from Newquay back to manchester after a week away. woke up the next morning went to drive it and the engine just revved. Got it back to the garage that I brought it from and after a day they said that a seal had blown, dumped all the AT fluid and cooked the gearbox!! they kindly replaced the gearbox under warranty and after a week I had my beloved surf back.

Same day that I had it back drove home and noticed that the Overdrive light was blinking. Took it back. They said that there was a problem with the light circuit and that they had removed the bulb. No bulb, no blinking, car drives fine!!

3 months later and the surf has developed a very sluggish pull away from the standstill when its in drive, so much so I have to engage low gear to pull away and then put into drive when i'm moving.

Can anyone suggest what the problem is, or recommend a good auto specialist in manchester???

i'd recommend taking it back to who changed the gear box, cos it's not been done right!
i've heard before that when it malfunctions, it will stay in third gear as a "get you home mode"... if it's a new gearbox then the bloke that fitted it should fix it.

i can't imagine why if the light was flashing indicating a problem, he would just take the bulb out??... what a ######!!... probably end up costing him more now, where h'd just forgotten to connect a wire!
nee nar nee nar, i'm a fire engine!
