  • Cam belt

    Hey folks !!
Well it's 2 days since I picked up my surf and I'm enjoying it no end.
Do you think that I should get the cam belt changed as a precautionary measure ? It's done 70000 mls . I have a full Toyota dealer history for the car since it was imported back in 2001 but no sign on the paperwork showing the belts as being done. It had a full service and all the fluids changed last october when the last m.o.t was done.
Also is there anything else I should be looking at getting checked out while it's in the garage and how long would it usually take to change the belt ? My local Toyota dealer charges about £80.00 p/h labour so I can do without a massive labour bill after spending all my money on the Surf.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Oh nearly forgot, it's a 2.4 ssr ltd 1991.
    Thanks.

your timing belt should be changed at 100,000km or 60.000mls. if you want peace of mind you could do it now. it should take about 3 hours to do, coz thats how long it took me. and i am not a toyota trained mechanic. i work on buses
