Tyre Rotation

I see there are a few people here with M/T's, Have had them on for 10.000 kms. wear looks pretty even, backs are wearing a bit quicker thou, was thinking about swapping from back to front, on both sides, is this the norm, have heard do on the diagonal, also turn tyres around on rims,which sounds like a big hassle, maybe if wear was different.
Any info would be appreciated,cheers.

if you look on the sidewall it will say if the tyre is rotational,so dude itsup to you.
personally i would just swap back to front(have done before)

and that gave me some more tyre life

The normal pattern is to swap diagonals, as plain front-to-back can exacerbate tracking and alignment issues... but I have the feeling that would affect 70's sports cars more than 90's trucks. (most of the rules-of-thumb seem to have started in the 60's & 70's. If the Surf stopped in the distance the Highway code says for cars, I'd get the brakes fixed!)

like everything else there are 2 schools of thought, 1 is as GWH says rotate them and get more life out of the rear ones.

The other school of thought is that then all 4 wear out together and the replacement cost is higher.

As a part of servicing her I swap front to back. So it's done quite regularly.

In theory tyre rotations should be done diagonally. However, especially with MT/s, many tyres are directional, so you can't put a tyre from the left side onto the right etc. In this case the only way to do a diagonal rotation would be to get them re-fitted at a tyre centre. If you feel the need to do a rotation, just swap the backs with the fronts.

Thanks everyone, yeah thats what i thougtt!, anyhow choice for the input, will swap them around this weekend.
BTW , getting a good run out of these grippers so far as wear goes, swapped back to narrow tyres, heaps better for offroad doing prolly 60/40 road/ off, sorta thing. Wider tyres are better for road.
Overall i rate these tryes, good price, great wear, so far, and good in the mud, only bad thing is the road humm.
$$$$$$ good tyres better than my last set!

You don't want to do diagonals on big tyres, running them the opposite direction after they've been on for a while is said to cause them to delaminate.

Just swap front to back.
