  • Heater fan question

Hi and thanks to all who have helped me out so far.
Well my heater fan now only works on the very highest speed. I think it worked on the highest and second highest speed a few weeks ago. Do I need a new unit or is there a simple fix. Thanks

it'll either be the rheostat which is behind the glovebox somewhere or the switch unit itself in the dash unless someone knows any different that's surf specific.

      Look for ths -

which is in the bottom of this -

It's the fan resistor. The above pic shows housing with fan motor removed. There's no need to remove the fan. Resistor is at rear close to firewall.

I should add that there are two sizes of resistor. Late model will not fit as it's larger. You need the resistor from the early models.

Well I finally changed the resistor for the heater but a weird thing happens cos the low setting is good but 2 and 3 are the wrong way around, I don't really care but I got A genuine Toyota part and you think it would be a plug and play kind of thing.

I know my exhaust is on it way out as part of it fell of couple of weeks ago but things seem to be getting very sooty in the truck easily cleaned just rather annoying. Also I think the rear door seal has gone aswell and this is probably not helping.

Any suggestions until finaces allow for a new exhaust?
