    Here's one for the Tekkies.

My old girl needs a new starter motor, will a 2nd gen one out of a 2lt-e engine fit my 1st gen 2lt engine? Or like the alternator are there lots of different types that only fit specific engines.
Or can I get a stareter motor out of a MK II or III pick up?

? Could you just replace the contacts...mine died and I took it apart and replaced the contacts in the motor. Works fine now. £36 in parts for Toyota. Tricky bugger to get the motor off and impossible to get it out of the engine bay(without a 2"lift) so fixed it in place

Probably LN6#. I'm not sure if the later models will fit. They vary a lot as far as power output but I have no idea if mounting position ot tooth count on the gear is different.

Mine is LN61. The parts that I need are on disc JAP1,sometimes when you go into the engine parts list you will get both petrol and diesel pictures come up (and the writing is realy small and the drawing could be better) the 2LT engine is the right hand drawing as you look at it.(well it is on mine) click on it and hit execute (f10 I think) and that should take you into the parts list. What are you looking for? I might have the number to in my book.

got it, from what i can see there were two different starters on 2lt 1st gens, a 2kw and a 2.5kw.

picking up the part numbers from the EPC and using the 'part no. application to models' suggests both were used on LN65 (mk2) pickups.

Then looking on roughtrax shows the same starter for mk2, mk3 & mk4pickups, and 2nd gen surfs.

In answer to your original question....
....i'm not convinced, but if that's all correct then yes.
