Creaking???

My surf makes a weird creaking and a bang when in full lock??? I heard somewhere this is normal so just wanted to check........
Also whats the 'L' gear on the auto transmission mean and used for?
Also anyone want to buy my surf as i will be starting a new job in october and would like to buy a commuting car....email me and we'll talk about price and description. Will send photos too. Cheers guys

The creaking noise is the steering stops. Just apply a blob of grease to them. Originally there were plastic caps on the bolt heads but they eventually wear through and you get the graunching noise.
'L' means Low or first gear.

Apply grease to the parts in the yellow circle...
