It weighs 2 Tonne nearly with the aerodynamics of a Block of Flats & its not a sports car. 25mpg is what you need to get as an average, Also wear slippers so your right foot is not as heavy.

I get about 18-22 mpg, I'm resigned to the fact that is what it is.

Low 20s is about right, 27-30mpg is most likely a 3rd gen Surf.

Hi all. Can you tell me if the trip counter and mileometer is actually counting miles or kms? In my old Discovery I'd fill up the tank, zero the trip counter and get just over 400 miles out of it. I'm trying to work out how many miles I get out of my Surf on a full tank.

            Cheers,
            Jay.

It'll be in KMs if your speedo face is still in KMs.

Hi Vince. The speedo does have mph display. Is this something that is changed when Surfs are imported?
If my Surf trip counter is indeed displaying miles then Surf is a bit more economical than my old 2.5 TD Disco'
It costs less to fill right up (just over 50 quid) and I got 410 miles out of her recently and that was still before the low fuel warning light came on.
Do any other Surfers get about the same?

                Cheers,
                Jay.

Are you sure it's not displaying speed in MPH and distance in KPH ?

Not all Surfs have their speedo faces changed when imported, as it's not necessary under the SVA rules as most are over twelve years old.
                      Owners/dealers change the faces themselves.
Unless the dash clocks have been removed and a speed converter has been installed, the the clocks may well still be measuring in KMS. I changed my speedo face myself but in stills measures distance in KMs.
Your truck will have a 65 litre fuel tank by the way.

Easy way to tell - agree to do a run with a mate, set your trips and do the run (one following the other), if the distance your mate logs is just over half of yours then you got KMs for distance.

510 eh? Interesting... Like I said, I clocked 410 and the needle was on empty so I could be reading miles I guess. I'll have to do a run like t'other guy said.

                            Cheers,

Ive had 550 km's out of a tank, that was 55 mph for the life of the fuel no breaks. Worked out at about 27-28mpg, i thought that was outstanding for one of these.
While working i get about 23-24mpg. I would say your 410 is km's

Say youve used 60 litres, thats about 13 gallons. And 410 km's is about 250 miles, so 250 devided by 13 comes in at just under 20 mpg.

If its in miles that means your getting just under 32 mpg, i cant see it personally. I would say you have a normal round town consumption at 20mpg

If its a problem go veg
