4x4 probs

hi can anyone help???
i started having problems with the 4x4 button a while back ,, but was working on and off mainly when car was stationary in a level ground.i have checked all the wiring and vacuum pipes and everytrhing seems ok apart a little pipe on the add in the transfer case that was disconnected , i assumed that this was mearly a breathingpippe as i couldn t feel any vaccum when engine was running , i have since reconnected it but still not luk,, now problem seem to have gone for teh worst as i can t hear relays cliccking anymore when i press the button .could anyone give me the location of the 4x4 fuse ans ecu? relays and solenoids?is driving me nuts


ps my car is a surf 1992 3 auto

Relay is under the stereo behind the removeable plastic pocket, above the pasty warming shelf :-). If that clicks then look to the 2 valves that are connected to the inner wing drivers side, check vacuum from alternator then check vacuum going from each of these valves when 4x4 is activated. Also check vacuum filter which is under drivers wing. Cleaning electrical contacts on add sometimes helps. On mine the one way valve from alternator was sticking so check that too. If it works sometimes could be any one of these things.

finally back in businness 4x4 working again,after finding the location of the 4x4 ecu and relays i inspected it and found some dump damage on cercuits ,,as i guess is a expensive kit to replace i manage to patch it up and is now working perfectly someone must have spilt a drink on the dash and hended up there,

ps.. still i couldn t find the location of the 4x4 fuse and also on top of the 4x4 ecu there is a metallic box connected to the lume does anyone know what this is???

finally i got it to work

thancks everyone for all your tips , after a long day tring to spot the problem with vacum pipes solenoids etc i got the location of the 4x4 ecu under the ashtray behind the stereo , got this one out end realized had a water damage, been a tight sod and a bit of a nerd i manage to replace to resistors and now works perfectly
