  • Radiator connection for ATF lines

    Hi guys.

I have a new Auto rad from Roughtrax. However, it comes with two externally threaded tubes for the ATF pipes - my old rad has pre-fixed pipes.

    er, help?

I can either solder the pipes in, or find a fixing to connect - anyone know where to get said fixing?

and while i am at it, anyone recomend an inline ATF cooler unit for sensible money?

    cheers Chaps n chapessessess

The fittings screw into the rad. Apply some thread sealing (PTFT) tape on them first though.

oh, its not that obvious - you sure?

well M8, I cant see how that will work..... the new rad has these 'nipples' on it with external thread, and a 10mm ish hole. my old rad has no such nipples. the pipes run straight in. I will take a picture..... hang on a bit.....

There should have been two brass fittings in the box that the rad came in, mine were taped to the inside of the box.

I would have fitted a rad for a manual Surf and then a seperate ATF cooler instead of adding one to the auto rad which is restricted by the internal ATF cooler.

                i 'ave no nuts

yes, i considered it, but several posts said to run an inline, and still utilise the rad to keep the atf at the right temperature.

no nuts???nope, i feel less of a prat, there are no nuts... quick phone call me thinks....

You'll need to find something like this. It's a flared fitting on the hex end to screw on rad and a hose tail the other for the transmission hose. Measure the hose size and the rad fitting (or take with you) to a supplier of brass hose fittings and they should be able to source one. Have a Google for : "Flared Fittings".
