Your front diff is a normal open type. The rear is also usually an open type, although some have limited slip diff's fitted (many of which are by now worn out and operating as a normal open diff). To determine which type of rear diff you need to check the axle code of the vehicle, a search of other posts on this forum will tell you how to interpret the axle code.
General info on selection and use of the 4WD system can be found hereMaurice

The front diff works using this...
http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/techsite/add.htm
The power is split 50/50 when in 4WD.
Two types of rear axel were fitted, LSD or open diffs. If you have a limited slip diff, there should be a sticker on the diff, or a code number on the vin plate.
Other specs here......

From reading other threads such as this one you would appear to have an LSD as the last digit of your axle code is a 5.
Having said that, it may well be worn out, the only way to know for sure if you have a working LSD is to jack up the rear axle, and turn one wheel, if the opposite one goes in the same direction you have a working LSD, if it goes in the opposite direction its either an open diff or a worn out LSD.Maurice
