  • starting my hilux in the morning...

ive had my hilux now for about a week...every thing seems fine engine wise other than starting her in the morning, heres the problem...(maybe not that big of a problem but never the less one that sort of bugs me)the previous owner told me to pump the throttle about ten times so that she starts in the morning...why do i have to do this (is it something to do with bringing the fuel up to the engine ?)? if i didnt do this she would not start for a while, but she will start eventully....once she starts shes fine the rest of the day..starts no problem straight away..its only when she sits over night ..wat do you guys think is the problem?? many thanks for any help given !

do you wait for a beeping noise after the glow plug light goes out before you try to start it?
have you noticed any fuel leaks in the engine bay?
    Oh Nana, what's my name?

the beeping is a warning your keys in the ignition and turned apparently. but ive been advised before to wait till it beeps, and then start it. takes about 5 - 10 seconds...

After you turn the key to the 'On' position (just before the start position) wait a few seconds, you should hear a slight 'clunk' (it's normal, don't panic), then you should hear a beep. The beep is the 'key left in the ignition' warning sound. After you hear this, start the engine. Doing this give the glow plugs plenty of time to warm up properly, and make starting that bit easier.

I used to get the BEEP before the relay clicked. So long as the GLOWPLUG RELAY CLICKS its fine, As for the pumping its cr4p its not a petrol engine

im sorry to say she didnt,i waited for the light to go out and then waited for the click of the relay, turned her over and over and over and nothing..so then i had to do the pumping thing again!! and after a few turns away she went....im at a loss to why ! maybe its just one of those things i will have to live with...
