  • 20lt Veg Oil Is £9.57 @ MAKRO Zero VAT

    Right,

I did it, went to MAKRO and bought 80lt of their Veg Oil in plastic 20lt containers.

    Cost me £38.28

On the way home the fuel light was on so rather nervously I poured 20lt in the tank and immediately topped off with 20lt of diesel.

Apart from a few misses when idling (probably when the veg oil first went through) everything seems to run fine.

Less smoke and maybe smoother (I say "maybe" because my 2.4 was quiet and smooth before the veg oil).

    One thing though!

The smell was not like a chippie or a BBQ but more like a burning "fry-up" type smell!

    Is this ok?

Maybe due to the type of oil, I don't know as I am a novice.

Had a laugh as well, went to Toyota main dealers to get some extra filters and the buggers quoted me £27.87 each + VAT.

I laughed heartily and told the guy to look at the top of my head in case a willy had appeared there when I walked in through the door!

Have to get some from Barry soon!

Is there anything I should look out for because this is my first tank of Veg Oil, leaks or fires perhaps?

    Later!

    Gary

there's a list of filters cross referenced and part nos for different filter manufacturers that MattF posted somewhere, take that in to your motorfactors. Should be £15 absolute tops, normally 8 or 9 quid round here

It's the old adage of 'you get what you pay for', though.

£6 for 'Nipparts' branded fuel filter from fleabay. I keep a spare in the truck these days - just incase. I once had a 'limp home' event 30 miles from home due to first use of veggie. Wont get caught out like that again!
