Ok - an update.
Been using straight vegetable oil now for a week. Last friday I put in 20 litres of the stuff (bought a 20 litre drum for £9.79 from my local cash and carry - my girlfriend has an account there). I threw it in with £7.50 worth of diesel and drove away. Got home without any issues whatsoever, aside from a different smell, not unpleasant - just needs some getting used to.
Started the car the next morning and it was a bit lumpy on idle, put on the idle up and 10 seconds later it had smoothed out.
Drove away and absolutely no issues all week, but on start up it is a bit lumpy for around 10 seconds only
The car basically runs exactly the same as it had been doing before using the veg oil. I got nearly three quarters of a tank and it cost me around £16..... Not bad huh!!!
Further good news. My friend is top greenkeeper at a golf course and just told me he gets 1000 litres of red diesel every other month and if I want some I am welcome to it. I am taking delivery of 20 litres this week, free of charge :o).
So, I will be mixing veg oil with red deisel at a ratio of 8:2...... Couldn't really be any naughtier could I - but fuhck it .
Not bad hey?
