  • oil pressure guage

just replaced oil pressure sender on side of engine block, but i'm still not getting a reading on the dashboard guage, so reckon my problem is with the guage and not the sender

as the current guage is part of the while instrument cluster on the dashboard......

is it possible to purchase a separate guage that i could connect to the new sender that would give me pressure readings?

Have you checked that the multiplugs on the rear of the instrument cluster are making good connections?

i did, there was just one main wiring connection, which i presume serves all of the guages,

all the other guages work, although the voltmeter one is a little bit off but it does give a reading.

Ground the sender wire to see if the gauge works. If not check wiring from sender to gauge. Pull plug from back of gauge cluster and with a multimeter find the wire from sender to gauge end of plug while disconnected. If you can't get a continuity reading from sender end of wire to gauge end of plug there will be a break in wiring. If you get continuity ground the appropriate terminal on gauge cluster that matches the sender wire. If gauge does not register a reading it will be a fault with gauge or gauge circuit on instrument cluster. An aftermarket gauge will work but require it own matching sender.

reckon i will source aftermarket sensor and guage combo..

what pressure ranges in bar/psi should i be aiming measure...its the 2LT engine

i saw a smiths guage for sale measuring from 1-10 bar, would this work for me?
