  • Crank Pulley Tool

    Hi.
I'm going to attempt to replace all the belts on my Surf this Saturday, I need to remove the crank pulley with the proper steering wheel type puller, what I'd like to know is, has anyone made a puller for this job, if so what size threads are used in the face of the pulley and at what distance are they apart, any info would be most appreciated.

I bought a universal puller from machine-mart, did the job fine, about £16 I think.

Easy to make if you have some thick guage steel around 5mm and a welder! take ya 10 mins.

Measurements taken from a new Harmonic Balancer I have here.

72mm centres for holes - 8mm bolt holes.

ps: You don't need to remove the crank pulley to replace belts. Why are you removing it? Are you doing timing belt?

            Cheers folks,
yes I'm replacing the timing belt as well as the fan belts etc, fingers crossed, I've even gone to the extent of buying a new idler pulley and tensioner and spring, I just hope the crank pulley is OK as I noticed a squeak coming from around that area.
