2LT and 2LTE engine year???

Can anyone tell me what year the engines changed fron 2LT to 2LTE. My bottom end is s$$$$ and I have located another one 2 hours away. My Surf is a K reg and the guy who has the engine says his is a J reg but seems to think its a 2LT but has the crank sensor on the left side of the block. I dont want a 4 hour round trip to find that it is a waste of time. Any other determining factors to ensure its the right engine???

EFI stamped on the turbo - inlet manifold pipe means it's a 2LT-e

If it's got a crank sensor then it will be an EFI, as the mechanical pump requires no sensor. I think........i'm pretty sure anyway.

08/90 was the approx date. Just ask if it has a Mechanical or EFI fuel pump. Mechanical has the throttle cable on the pump EFI has the throttle cable on the intake manifold throttle housing.
