    during my swap new motor wouldnt clear x-member/ old block has step in sump approx 6 inch from front of block then dropds down,new lump has sump with no step which when lowered clashes with x-member.blocks look same can i swap sumps/are oil pick ups same/changeable.nipponspares supplied for 1992 2.4 LT-E

    on cars i have had with the above sump problem. oil pickup swings round ? dipstick hole bunged up. there should be a blank in the new block cast so you can feed dipstick tube into that.

      Hi, you can swap the oil pan, pickup pipe and strainer from your old engine to the 'new' one as long as they both have the same sort of seal between the oil pan and block. If one engine has a rubber gasket and the other only has RTV sealant I think you may have a bit of a problem.

      I think the only 2.4 diesels that have straight sumps are the Hiace/Townace van ones
