right here goes, spent last couple of days putting a new head on my 92 2.4 everything seemed to be going great (always a bad sign) bled diesel lines ,started it up, got the water flowing around the system nicely (heaters all hot etc, etc) seemed to be running great so knocked it off and had a celebratory cup of tea. half an hour later set of and drove it home only seemed to have about half the power pre/head job and the turbo boost light wasn't illuminating (lamp is ok) so I take it I have a turbo fault now, spent the last hour rechecking the job and cant find anything amiss, anybody got any pointers what to check. please, please, before I set fire to the f---ing thing.!!!!!!!!1

I seem to recall some posts about a vacuum tube that needs to be reconnected when you do the head, and is easy to miss, on the top of the turbo... think that had the effect you describe..

Someone technical will be along soon with the correct terminology, or you could try doing a search... think it might have been Koi or Lucky who posted that...

Good luck m8! Oh, and burning them don't kill 'em you know...

Yep make sure that the vacuum pipes on the passenger side of the engine are correcftly connected. They are the small ones and if you take them off agaon and look really carefully you should be able to see where they should be connected to, they all sit naturally in a certain place and if there is any strain or too much slack, then they are in the wrong place.

Mine did exactly the same and it took me about 30 minutes to fix (should have labled them up). Also make sure that the pipes that connect under the turbo to intake pipe (one pipe each end) are connected otherwise the 4WD won't work as it is activated by vacuum over these pipes.

      Cheers

well the boosts back, cheers lucky. was the little vac hose that goes to the little black box(some sort of vac sensor??) next to the air-filter housing, had a split in the end so I guess it wasn't getting the required reading to up the pressure.
thanks again ,only the rear window and the front de-mister problem to sort now.

That would be the Turbo Pressure Sensor.
