  • Weight of tyres.

    Hi guys.

What are the weights on two wheels / tyres for the hilux? I am having two picked p from Sparx’s gaff and the courier need to know their weight….

    Any ideas?

    Jon.

i got a set of tyres off the truck at the moment, can weigh them if you like. I got 31/10.50R15 A/Ts on alloys or 31/10.50R15 Colway m/ts on steels. Which is closer to what you got?

      1 x 31/10.50 15 Colway m/t fitted to 15x8 8 spoke steel = 32kg

I'll weigh one of the other set in a bit but got to get the brakes back together so i can drive the truck tonight.

Thats more than the one man lift guide of 25kg, so it needs two tyrefitters to remove/refit a surf wheel. Hmmm.

i think it all depends on how much air you have in them

The air at sea level will be heavier than air from high altitude so to keep the weight down its best to drive to the top of your nearest mountain an fill up the tyres then!

next time i get a puncture i'll weigh one empty, there's a fair bit of air in a tyre that size at 28 PSI

You'll have to add the weight of the puncture hole to the empty tyre to get an accurate guestimation

I think you need to subtract the hole, to be able to put more air in........................I think?
