    Hey fellas,

I have a 91 2.4 TD Hilux. I live in canada. My province is having a pretty cold winter... like -35 degrees celcius. If there is 15W 40 regular oil in the unit will this affect the way it starts after sitting overnight on a cold winter night. I'm thinking I should maybe be putting 0W 40 synthetic in for these kind of conditions. Any advice anyone?

As far as the oil goes, I'd check with toyota, they'll know.

If you look at this thread, it has a guide for what oil to use for the ambient temps:

From a fellow surfer in Winnipeg. I've been using 10w30 diesel engine oil all winter and it's never hesitated on a start even on this latest never ending cold snap. I have an oil pan heater, but it still starts nicely even if I forget to plug it in. I used 15w40 over the summer.
