  • Loss of oil pressure

    Hi you lot!
Can anyone tell me where my oil pressure sensor is located as i simply can not find it.
Can you also tell me where the oil pump and relief valve are as they too are eluding me?
The reason i ask is my 2.4tdi has lots of psi on start up but as i drive along and the oil warms up the pressure drops slowly then comes back again, no funny noises from engine or lack of power so i guess it is either the sensor or relief valve am i right, has anyone else experienced this?
    How much!

the pressure will drop as the oil gets warmer and thins.
the pressure should rise as the engine is revved?

      Thanks Dabigman,

you win the prize for stating the bleedin obvious , however in my experience the hot oil pressure drop is not as severe as the drop i am experiencing ie to zero, also it is a random thing.

according to my book the sender unit is down by the oil filter.

hope that helps wavey back to you.

Yep.Down near oil filter and a bit lower and further toward rear of engine.Wire for this (green I think) is at wiring loom on alternator. It has a small black connector.Sounds like a loose connection on the pressure sensor.
