In that link, it shows two alignment marks on the pump body and the engine casing, make sure yours are lined up.
Make sure the electrical connections are OK.
Here's a pic showing the corect fitting of the fuel pipes at the back of the pump.

If all this is OK then I still think it's the TPS.

was pretty sure injetor feeds were ok (pretty hard to get em wrong due to shape of pipes) but just checked..and can cross that off the list...

timing mark is cock on (ive tried advancing and retarding a deg or 2...made no difference at all...other than engine tone)

i removed the plug to the TPS and it reved up to about 2500 RPM...pressing the pedal had no effect etc) on plugging it back in...it went back to normal.....is this what you would expect?....is there a way to check out if mine is working corectly?...resistance measurements?

i can rev it up all day long..and it seems fine...responsive etc...just has no balls when under load....driving etc...i would have thought if th TPS had issues it would prevent this from happening?...

is there a diagram showing the working of the inlet manifold?...so i can figure out whats going on...its the only grey area in my mind at the moment

i have an old 2LT pump and inlet manifold here....V tempted to put it on and see what happens...(will confuse the hell out of the ECU!!) but shying away from it as i really dont want to have to go thru the whole timing belt thing again...especially for a diagnostic test.

thanks again for your patience and assistance :-)

Just another thought, is the turbo providing enough boost, and not leaking/dumping straight into the exhaust?
You'll need a turbo pressure, or boost gauge to check.

Don't know if there's anything of use to your particular situation in there, but a collection of documents on various fault finding techniques and other info I've accumulated from various sources:

ok..next clue...i just did a 100mile round trip..and as i pulled on to my drive i noticed the temp gauge thru the roof....i know it was ok for most of the journey....but have crept up during the last 10 miles

engine off...heard the bubbling noise..popped the bonnet just as the expantion bottle emptied its self all over the drive...

                          GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Judging by this, and the lack of power could your replacement engine have been fubared before you fitted it ? couldit have any kind of warranty ?
Look out Eastbourne, the Pandas are coming !

Hmm....starting to think the same...which is really weird..casue it looked good (new clean etc)..the engine bay of the truck it was in wasnt clean..and the engine was mint...so know it was newly fitted..

as for waranty...was an ebay buy...complete truck...i stole the engine for mine...and I broke the rest for spares..ive recouped some cash back..but spent lots of time stripping it..so certainly no proffit...will be well out of pocket tho if this one is dead...

i seriously thought about a V8 conversion befroe i got this engine (rover 3.5...or possably the lexus 4.0) but thought this would be the easy/sencible option....WRONG!!!...

if it wasnt nearly last orders i would be off down the pub!!
