      His front diff won't fit yours. IFS are 7 1/2" diff in the front. Solid axle trucks use the same 8" diff as the rear (which is roughly the same as yours, 91-on Surfs have a stronger 4 pinion rear diff than the mk1 and 2 pickups, not sure about the mk3's though).

      Having said that, Linda's truck currently has a 2 pinion diff in the back (I was testing a 4.88 ratio out of one of my spare axles to make sure it would make a difference) and its survived so far.

        Hadn't thought about the pick ups having a solid front axle - you live and learn.
