Re-build water problem ??

Can anyone tell me what goes in the hole in the block just above the starter ?
Put some water in the filler and it all came out of the hole. I know it's not the water temp sender because that's on the thermostat
There is a plug close by so I presume it's a sender or sensor of somekind

Thats the engine block water drain plug it should have a threaded taper plug in it. just took mine out to do a complete coolant change in my surf.

the hole above the starter is for another temp sender, the one for the ecu the one in the stat housing is for the gauge
