  • Yep, Another new 2.4 surfer with the same question

Ive got a 2.4, 2L-TE engined surf sat on my drive. I had it for a day so far to decide if i want to buy it and have fallen in love. Thing is after reading the forum im now not so sure. Its a 93/K, 150k on the clock, brilliant condition inside and out, imported to uk 2003. It belongs to a freind who is closing his car lot and wants £2000. It was serviced by toyota 8 months ago and drives great.

Ive had a look on the link in the forum that lists the recalls and it didnt seem to be there but AM I WRONG ??? Model number Q-LN130W and frame number LN130 - 70315**

Any advice would be fantastic as I have to give it back very soon and make a decision

Sounds fine. If it's a good one, 2k is the money. Recalls are free, so don't worry about them. The problem with 2.4s is the potential for the head to go but you're talking about a 13 year old car - stuff will go wrong.

If you have enough a 3.0 is 'better' but there's nothing wrong with a 2.4 as such, as long as you enjoy it. If the head goes, you buy a new one. No big deal.

a friend, how good a friend if hes a good friend then surely he wont sell you a dog. If hes closing a car lot then hes a trader and by law has to give you three months warranty.Youve been in the situation most havent by having the vehicle for a few days to try it out. If all feels well go for it, as you stil have it why not pop it to a garage for a once over, get head pressuwre tested, but i would have thought if there was anything wrong it would have showed up while you have had it.Just check all electrics work, air con, heaters etc and enjoy.
