    can someone please help me. today my surf has started to smoke on tick-over there is no water coming out and it seems ok when driving, have just disconected my egr valve and it is no different also the water is pouring out of my header tank but it wasn't over heating

      A new thermostat and radiator cap is needed methinks.

        He been here, we played with his brakes.

        I checked his coolant (as normal for every 2.4 I see! ), was OK at the time, Outlook doesn't look so good now...........

          has the thermostat gone then or is it something else if the stat has gone can i take it out till i can get a new one

            Get a rad cap and 'stat. Running without a 'stat will cause rather than cure
            problems. Just pop a new rad cap on and replace the thermostat when you
            get it.

                Go to a motor factors. There are a couple of general types of cap for
                Toyota's. Make sure you get the one with the correct depth bottom
                section, with a pressure rating of 0.9 bar or 13 psi/lb. Wouldn't worry
                too much about getting the 'stat tomorrow, as it sounds more cap
                related than 'stat related. Just order a 'stat from Toyota on Monday.

                    Very rare that one of your local factors won't be open on a Sunday. If
                    not, there's always Halfrauds. Motosave may open Sunday as well.
