New Engine

Hi All,
Can any of you knowledgeable types answer this?
Are there 2 types of engines for an K reg 2.4 TD auto Surf? I'm attempting to fit a new engine but exhaust manifold and other components are wrong way around? This is baffeling the garage it is in at present. The garage I bought it from got it from a Surf 2.4 etc etc. Are there 2 types of engine? How can I tell any other way if it is the wrong replacement. It's been in now for a few months awaiting a solution.
Any answers would be really appreciated!

There was a post very similar to this a while back and the general concensus seemed to be that there is only one type fitted and that should have the exhaust on the drivers side and inlet on the passenger side.

I don't think you have a Surf engine. Post some pics and I'm sure someone can identify it.

Hello, I was the person with the same problem! Thanks for replying. I have taken some pictures - find attached. Is it a Surf engine?

It's totally different to my 2.4 LN130. Oil filters on the wrong side for starters.

That looks like a 1KZ-TE. I don't think that would fit in even if you hit it with a big hammer.

Def a 1KZ-TE 3.0L so will fit but needs all the wiring and ecu exaust rad etc etc for a 3.0L, so not a straight swap (Big job)

Yeh you get to fit the 3.0L into his 2.4 surf lol

Thanks for the feedback. So it looks like I was sold a 3ltr engine as 2.4 ltr engine?! Is this definate?

Yes. That is 100% fact (assuming they told you it was a 2.4 rather than just 'a surf engine').
