I Think Generally They Are All Sluggish In The 2.4 Catagory. I Have A 92 Ssr-g And Found That Just When Your Hitting The Hill Switch Off The Overdrive To Try And Keep The Engine On Boost. My Turbo Light Comes On When Im On Boost Or Anything From Just Under Half Throttle Up Until I Reach The Desired Speed.

Correct Me If Im Wrong But I Was Told The Engine Only Develops 89 Bhp However If Your Feeling Flush Get The 400bhp Chevy Conversion From L.a Supertrux Lol.

It Would Seem On Yours That You May Have A Sensor Off In The Engine Bay Stopping The Green Led From Coming On And You May Be Loosing Boost That Way But Im No Mechanic.

Never driven like for like with the Surf, so I can't in all honesty say. (Transits
don't qualify). However, speed or reliability is always a compromise with
regards to some other part of the system. I'm just glad they went for
reliability over speed.

Mine is a damn sight quicker than my mates Disco, and also quicker than another mates Defender, both fitted with a 2.5 TDi engine. But I have got a Bobbox fitted..
