Tranmission lock up

I know there is a thread in the 3.0td area wrt this (not complete), but has anyone any more information on how to force the transmission (auto) to 'lock up' so it doesn't constantly change down.
I do quite a few slower lane type journeys, where with minimal throttle top gear would be fine to trundle around in.
Info on solenoids, cct diagrams appreciated.

Not sure about any technical aspects but mine usually wont go into lock-up unless I'm doing at least 50mph. Can get it to stay in a bit lower than this if I stay off the throttle but if you need to use the throttle around the lanes then it probably wont stay in lock-up.
