    Greetings again
When my 2.4 is at engine idle condition the tick over goes up then down and continues doing this any ideas. I do believe I have a turbo problem due to the check light coming on periodically but dont think this is linked coz it's only just started happening whereas the turbo problem needs a diagnostic check which I still aint sussed out how to do.

Sounds like you've got worn/dirty fuel injectors, that would make the revs go up and down too.

Try some Redex diesel injector cleaner in the fuel tank, get a 4.99 bottle, 500ml i think and pour it all into a quarter tank of diesel and give the truck a good blast up the motorway.

alternatively, carefully remove the fuel filter... empty that into the tank.
Fill the fuel filter with the redex... then give it a blast...
