Hi, just doin my first tank of 50/50 veg oil, running great & starting OK. But have got the dreaded leak of veg/diesel. Looked up other threads for this and some have replaced fuel pump seal others have gone back to straight diesel and leak stopped. Not sure what to do. If seal replaced does veg/diesel stop leaking? or is the only real answer diesel only? Thanks for any info

I replaced the top seal,it took about 40mins but after a while the end seal near the injectorlines started leaking-that took me 4 days to fix was a complete pain in the bum and it never ran right after that.
personally i would do a twin tank system with the main tank for svo and diesel in a small start up tank.

Re veg issues...
Hi,
I have a Surf in Canada, converted to twin tank system. I'm having a hard time with cold starts (jerky, air in fuel, white smoke while starting on diesel), and suspect that I have an air leak coming from the diesel filter somewhere or that air is getting into the injection pump somewhere. However, this morning (about 0*C), the symptoms seemed to be coming from the veg side as well as the diesel... I'm just curious whether any of you fellow biofuel testers have had any difficulty with strange cold start troubles? I don't see any leaks on the injection pump just yet.
I do have some restriction on the diesel filter, and am waiting for a fuel filter to be shipped here (there are Baldwin and Fleetguard part numbers, thankfully).
Otherwise, I have a new battery, and when there is enough fuel, the truck starts in a flash... I don't suspect glow plugs. When I get the new fuel filter, I'll fill it with biodiesel or injector cleaner.
Any other ideas re this cold start problem?

With the twin tank setup, are you switching back over to the diesel tank
for several minutes running before you stop the vehicle?

Got it
I think I found the problem. Nothing but a leaky fitting. Oh, and when I took off the old diesel filter I kept the contents and there seems to be a bunch of little chunks of clear crud as well as the usual dirt and $$$$ all contributing to a seriously blocked filter. For anyone with the bad smoke on start-up problem, I'd suggest starting with a fuel filter change, and tighten things up while you're in there.
The offending hose was tucked away and didn't get caught by the 2-week tune-up, when I tightened the rest of the new hoses & fittings.
Yes, I purge completely. I had a sample of B100 in the cab (in a jar) overnight, and this morning (-15*C) it was solid.
Atchbo.
