  • Crank pulley probs

    Hi all,

I need some help on how to get the 19mm nut undone on the crank pulley.

Manual says" remove flywheel inspection plate and lock flywheel with screw driver"

I don't seem to have a fly wheel inspection cover.

How can I stop the movement in the engine? ( have tried putting it in gear-didn't work)

I've already got all the drive belts off so I need to lock up the engine.

    Thanks.

    Clive.

If you look at the front of the pulley you'll see 4 bolts holding the 2 halves together. Undo and take the front part of the pulley off then you'll see 2 lugs that you can wedge a pry bar into to lock the pulley while you undo the bolt.

or you cna use the fact it turns over to your advantage and put a big spanner on it resting against a solid bit of engine , then turn the key and it will take the nut off for you

Cheers, I'll try that in the morning and let you know the outcome.

I nearly always a power bar wedged under or on the chassie leg then crank the engine for a second. Works a treat

i did this the other week, put a big spanner on it and flick the key, then you need to remove the rad to get the pulley off.

I never had to take the rad off? The pulley splits in two!
