How easy?

Hello fellow surfers.

Is it easy to check and then adjust the valve clearances on a 2.4 2LTE engine.
Also, are there any special tools needed or will regular spanners/sockets etc do the job.
Anyone want to offer a step by step guide would be gratefully received!
I'd like to have a go unless I run the risk of killing my car!

Never done it but I think it's a complicated job as the valve clearances are set with shims.

Hi,
You need a valve lifter/compressor tool, adjusting shims and a feeler gauge.
It is fairly straightforward to `check` the clearances by using the TDC marks on the crankpulley to line engine up. The harder part is removing the old shims and replacing with new. Cold engine clearances. Intake 0.20-0.30mm. Exhaust 0.40-0.50mm
