hub the $$$$

wanting to put new brake pads and discs on.
problem is wheel off HUB CEASED ON WILL NOT BUDGE advise how to release please this is a big pain of a job found harder to do than replacing all me belts.
cannot get a blade or screw driver in to open up am i missing some thing
read the thread and seen pics but no joy

Tap around the hub rim with a rubber or wooden mallet.

I assume you've removed the hub centre cap, and the large nut and washers behind that?
Remove caliper and tie out of the way, then lift the disc and hub assy off the shaft. (tapered bearings, so shouldn't be stuck) The disc is bolted to the hub from the rear of the disc.

vince took hub cap off and a 12mm nut, x6 nuts and washers BUT looks like there is x6 spring washers at the base of the threads but have chewde one up already and will not move? COULD THEY HAVE WELDED THEM SELVES ON??
THIS lift OFF SHAFT? NOTHING MOVING MATE? ALL SOLID

They're cone shaped, so if I were you, I would wrap a rag over the hud to catch the washers as they will fly off when you finally loosen the hub. You need a big flat head screw driver, or cold chisel to break the seal.


Oh and a lump hammer!

i have also tied the caliper up but cannot lift disc/from shaft?

I think you will find ity is the cone washers that are holding it on! you will need to tap(wallop) the hub next to the cone washers to release them and then it should all come apart

cheer i understand whats behind the hub but just cannot get it to budge.
the spring looking washers look like they have welded themselves to the hub.
will go aand bash the fk out of it even more then! now! lol but dont hold much hope

Try spraying them with WD40 first and let it soak in for half an hour.

A short drive round the block with the nuts off should do it.

O.k. Anther method is to get two bolts (8mm) and screw into the hub ( the two holes in the hub) and screw then in and that should push the cover off.
