  • Cracked Canadian Head Eh ?

91 2.4 Surf In Kelowna bc, struggled with overheating, and losing fluid. removed thermostat, replaced cap, made clutch fan solid, recored rad, nothing. Then I discovered someone had added radseal and it may have blocked line to overflow and some corrosion near cap i cleaned both and rad seemed to be functioning and overfill returning, but that nite engine was almost seized when i tried to start and after i turned the fan a few times it would start, and next morning i went to tire shop and it overheated imediately and now hot steam out of exhaust Cracked head or blown gasket, not sure how to tell or where I can source a new part , or which head i need ( i heard there was 3 types as well as a redesigned one).milneroffroad has imformed me that they cant sell me one because shipping is to expensive ???? ahhh I thought Im the one who pays, or decides whats to expensive. seemed retarded. any help part numbers etc.would be greatfully aprectiated Krash

        Krash.

Try Crushers on IH8MUD.com, he may be able to source you one. He's based in Calgary and owns Luxury Imports.

Hey Krash, I've just bought a jap surf too. I drove it to Swift Current a while ago and had to limp back to Grande Prairie with the coolant puking out of the overflow. I've taken it to a Toyota Dealership and they think it's just the gasket. I think it's probably the common cracked head issue but I can't find one either. How's your search going?

              Cracked head

Ok canuk surfies. I also bought a 91 surf and it overheated and, head gasket problem. it's much deeper though. I went into the top of the engine and decided to buy a new head at 4 wheel auto in edmonton they usually have 2-4 on the shelf. if you test the head for cracking its about $400.00 and it usually is anyway. got it back on the road and yesterday the bottom of the motor went it was clanking really bad and came on fast with no warning. so after a $3500.00 bill. I am now out an engine because thats what happens when coolant leaks in the oil right? now what do I do I am into this $$$$pile for 12K and the motor is f'ed I will take it back and see what they will do??? I had them take the bottom apart as much as possible before repairing the head but Its only a month and a half ago. I love the truck too bad it will not run
