Fuel gauge fo 2.4TD

Another niggly problem that someone could maybe help with.
Fuel gauge is faulty in that it does not go down properly.
When we had the dash off we saw that the fuel gauge pointer could be set to any position....no springloaded return to zero.
It did rise once we started car but will not drop back to zero when ignition is switched off.
Had a look at Roughtrax and Milners sites but could not see gauges.

Anyone know if it can be fixed or from where to source a replacement.

Mine never goes to zero when parked. Sometimes it goes up. But it always goes to the right place a while after starting.

It goes down with the fuel, obviously.

If yours is actually busted, there's a couple of people breaking Surfs in the 'parts for sale' section. Ebay's your best bet otherwise, unless you want to try Toyota.....

That's how it's supposed to work. When the ignition is switched off,
the fuel gauge will settle somewhere around the fuel level position.

There we go then. It ain't broke so don't fix it.
